Caldwell Homicide
Authorities identified the teenager found dead Monday in a Caldwell home as 18-year-old Hope Cornish. Police say her father, 51-year-old Delbert Cornish, was arrested hours later in Mountain Home. A teenage son escaped and called 911. Hope Cornish died from a gunshot wound, and the case remains under investigation.
Lori Vallow Daybell Extradited
Convicted child killer Lori Vallow Daybell is back in Idaho custody after extradition from Arizona, where she’s serving time for other conspiracy convictions. She will serve five life sentences at the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center.
Media Merger
Tegna, the owner of Idaho stations KTVB (Boise) and KTFT (Twin Falls), has agreed to be acquired by Nexstar Media in a $3.54 billion deal valued at about $22 a share. Nexstar would grow larger, though Sinclair Broadcasting (owner of KBOI Boise) is also considering a competing bid.
Twin Falls Crash
Part of Shoshone Street in Twin Falls was closed after a motorcyclist, possibly speeding, struck several vehicles at Shoshone and 9th Avenue North. The rider suffered serious injuries and was Life Flighted.
City Park Expansion
Twin Falls City Park could expand for the first time in 121 years. The proposal would close part of Hansen Street to connect the park and library, creating a safer outdoor learning plaza. Public hearing: August 25th at City Hall.
Murder Plea
Rolan Delacruz pleaded guilty to the murder of Dax Richins, admitting he stabbed him. Prosecutors dropped a second charge under a plea deal recommending life with parole after 23 years. Delacruz and co-defendant Alexander Garcia will be sentenced in October.
Boat Ramp Closure
The boat ramp at Twin Falls Park will be closed all day tomorrow for a routine dam inspection. Idaho Power says water levels will be lowered after sunset Wednesday and return to normal by Friday.
West Nile Virus
West Nile virus detected in mosquitoes at Three Island Crossing State Park. Additional cases confirmed in Glenns Ferry and across southern Idaho counties.

High school football is near! Top 15 statewide rankings put Rigby at #1 after last year’s 6A state title run. The rest of the top five: Rocky Mountain, Coeur d’Alene, Hillcrest, and Eagle.

Kimberly Bulldogs

Season opener: Saturday night at home vs. Fruitland (top-five 4A matchup).
Castleford Wolves
After starting 0-5 in 2024, Castleford closed with three straight wins and now returns nearly the entire roster (just four seniors graduated).
New head coach: Brock Campbell, Division II national champ from CSU-Pueblo. Players say his CrossFit-style program is changing team culture and mindset.
Opener: September 5th vs. Rimrock.
Richfield Tigers
Richfield begins a fresh era under new coach Matt Kent, replacing longtime coach Buck Hendren. After just one win last season, the Tigers now have their largest roster in years.
Coach Kent: Focus on teamwork and learning a new system.
Senior Tayson Telford: Goal is simple — have fun, win games, and finish strong.

Nampa Ford Idaho Center Tax Proposal
Nampa City Council rejected a tax increase proposal to help transfer the Ford Idaho Center to the College of Western Idaho.
- Levy would have added $6 in taxes per household per $1 million needed.
- Alternatives: raise ticket user fees (doubling revenue to $600K) or redevelop parking lot for commercial use.
No date yet for transfer vote.
Boise State Athletics
Boise State unveiled “What’s Next 2.0”, an updated strategy to stay competitive nationally and support athletes.
Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey: plan builds on 2021 vision, covering revenue sharing, athlete support, engagement, and alumni ties. Focus: “Bronco Experience” for athletes, staff, and alumni.
