Jerome School District
The Jerome School District is apologizing after major busing problems marked the start of the school year. Officials cite rapid growth, unregistered riders, and routing errors for delays and overcrowding. The district is revising routes, adding tracking tags, and tightening rules to improve safety and reliability moving forward. School is scheduled to resume Monday.
Kimberly Waterline Break
A waterline break around 3:10 p.m. yesterday at Kimberly Road and Trade Street caused a loss of water pressure for nearby businesses who may face a temporary boil order.
State Budget Deficit
A new budget report shows Idaho could end fiscal year 2026 with a nearly $80 million deficit, which would violate the state constitution. Democrats blame Republican tax cuts, while GOP budget leaders say itβs too early to panic. Governor Brad Little has already ordered 3% budget cuts.
Fatal I-84 Crash
Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash on I-84 near Snowville. A semi struck a motorcycle early yesterday morning, killing a 61-year-old Missouri man. Eastbound lanes were blocked for about eight hours.

Grocery Tax Repeal Push
At the Twin Falls County Fair next weekend, you may see State Senator Glenneda Zuiderveld gathering signatures to repeal Idahoβs 6% grocery tax. Lawmakers have tried for years without success, and now a citizen-led ballot initiative is underway that would need 70,000 signatures by next spring.
Illegal Hunting Sentences
Three men tied to Karl Studerβs illegal hunting in the South Hills were sentenced Monday. Brandon Wilcox and Kevin and Landon Sielaff received suspended jail time, probation, hunting license suspensions, and thousands in fines and restitution as part of plea deals.
Bellevue Boil Water Order
The City of Bellevue has issued a boil water order after a valve break dropped pressure below safe levels. Residents should boil water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking until further notice.
Election Controversy
President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing an executive order to ban mail-in ballots and voting machines, citing fraud concerns. Idaho Senator Mike Crapo says he supports continuing mail-in voting. State officials say proven voter fraud cases here are extremely rare.

High School Football Returns
Football is back in Southern Idaho! Week 0 kicks off tonight with eight games on tap this opening weekend. In 5A, Sandpoint takes on Twin Falls while Emmett faces Canyon Ridge, and Minico battles Skyview. In 4A, Fruitland visits Kimberly Saturday night. In 3A, Wendell squares off with Filer. And in 2A, Grace travels to Oakley, with Logos meeting Hagerman tomorrow afternoon.
Vandals Soccer
Idaho soccer rolled to a 4-0 win over UMass Lowell on the banks of the Merrimack River. Four Vandals found the net, while Paula Flores earned her second shutout of the year. Idaho dominated from start to finishβoutshooting the River Hawks 19 to 5, including 14 shots on goal, and racking up 11 corner kicks. Scoring came from Hallie Prinos-Grumbach, Annika Farley on a penalty, plus header goals from Sara Rodgers and KV Miller. The Vandals improve to 2-1 and continue their East Coast trip Saturday at Stonehill.
Camas County Mushers
The Camas County Mushers are ready to play ball after a whirlwind preseason. Following a 1-7 season in 2024, the program faced even more uncertainty when their new head coach resigned weeks before practice. But interim coach Danyon Fontenot and his staff stepped in, giving the Mushers stability and focus. Junior quarterback Quinn Palan says the new staff brings needed knowledge, while running back Aaden Stolzman is determined to help the team bounce back. Camas County opens the season next Friday at North Gem.
Idaho State Bengals Soccer
The Idaho State Bengals earned their first soccer win of the season last night at Davis Field, beating North Dakota State 3-1. Sophomore Talia Coury scored early, Saydree Cooke added her first goal of the year, and Sam Steele sealed it with a second-half strike. Isabella Winton tallied three assists, tying the second-most in a single game in program history. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Wieler made four saves for her first career win. The Bengals, now 1-0-1, return to Davis Field Sunday to host CSU Bakersfield at 1 p.m.
Boise State Gameday Map
Boise State fans heading to Albertsons Stadium this fall will have a new way to get around. An interactive gameday map is now live in the Bronco Sports app, showing parking, concessions, restrooms, and activities with turn-by-turn directions. The app also offers schedules, stats, and ticketing. Traditions like the Bronco Walk and Ford Fan Zone continue, while Bronco Alley shifts south during construction.
